200 years in Seaforde we have been a congregation
1 of many Presbyterian within our nation
Some highlights and tears have been our story
But we seek to give God the glory
They say here there’s 40 odd families I assure you that's true
Croskery, Watson Mitchell to name just a few
Clough was the church in which we would meet
The distance to travel was sore for our feet
We continue to have many friends who stayed there
But back then the preacher just didn't care
We wanted to hear our bible explained
So we hunted for a place that could be attained
A patch of land from old Mr Forde
For the proclamation of Jesus Christ our Lord
Our meeting house took us nearly 2 years to build
But when we were finished, boy weren't we thrilled.
Our building has had at least 3 Renovations
That we've completed through the generations
A pitch forks been used to break and enter
But we'll be generous and say they needed shelter.
In 1903 a man put a McDo – (hole)-well in the window with a stone
A fine of 6 shillings, better he should have known
Many years ago a family left over a change of the pew
Thankfully nothing like that while I’m up here - PHEW
Rev McKee of Castlewellan preached here first
To hear God's word is what we had thirst
Rev McCormick came first and found himself a wife
Sadly she died will bringing in new life
He continued here and married again
14 years he did remain
They say here there’s 40 odd families I assure you that's true
Croskery, Watson Mitchell to name just a few
Next on our list was Rev McMordie
He stayed here for a year short of 40
In his time here, McMechan felt God’s call to preach
Seaforde own student to Canada he did reach
Many men we called where Green behind the ears
Poor Rev Rea didn't even last the first year
Rev John Stewart in 1879 for 4 decades or so
The Great War was on and 3 of his sons did go
But as we journey through our bygone years
We remember some no longer with us through our tears
They say here there’s 40 odd families I assure you that's true
Croskery, Watson Mitchell to name just a few
1923 to Clough we came together
So with them we choose a successor
The man we called was Charles Orr
And we welcomed him in through our doors
Harvest, Christmas, Easter services abounded.
400 Eggs for the children’s hospital were rounded.
Rev Boggs for 13 years did toil with belief
But we scared him off to the nation of the maple leaf
WW McI Craig came with his mum to the manse
He pastored well for the gospel to advance.
Scott, Millar & Ross didn’t light here for too long
But foundations were here so others to God to belong
They mostly went to church extension
But our thanks to them we must mention
Knowles and his group of ce teens
Taught them what God's word means
Rev Craig came and was first in a new manse that was airy
But within 10 years was called to Londonderry
Moffat with full gusto did sing
But boy didn’t our ears ring
Craig would later be Moderator of the general assembly
But all in the past we hold in fond memory
A minister we gave a bike so he could zoom
With an MOT so it went broome broome
A shock for sure, but Maurice couldn’t help but smile
Better than a redgar with good gallons to miles
Adrian stood tall through his illness
But now he enjoys Christ's riches
The man we have now is David's son
Most Sundays now we can't wait until he is done
I'm a re-connor who thinks God’s been merciful & kind
There are plenty of examples we can bring to mind
Even yesterday the sun decided it was it’s turn
And some of us ended up with a sun burn
At times there have been moments of strain
But God has been faithful even through the pain
They say here there’s 40 odd families I assure that’s true
But they come to hear from their pew
We've gathered in Seaforde but from near and far
From near Castle Gillespie to within a length of a car
On Sundays we take our bibles and have a reid
For you know Jesus is everything we need
A church is the family we all love to see
We always miss when there’s an absentee
A New Hall built for times together
So what doesn’t matter is the weather
After we’ve sat in church and chewed on our toffee
There’s nothing better than a tea or Coffey
Church dinners a plenty to leave with full campbellys
For the kids Ice cream & jellys
Dinners are great and no ones in a hurry
The food far better than Nando’s Perry Perry
Before we head all head back to our holmes
Remember the Lord Jesus sits on the one true throne
Some in our world will think to mock-sin (moxen)
But Jesus our Saviour came in human skin
We see clearly there’s nothing can be done
But quite simply in God’s Only son
We set our hope on Jesus our Lord & Saviour
For only then we will find God’s favour
Seaforde is here to pass on this message on
To grasp hold of Jesus before you are gone
They say here there’s 40 odd families I assure you that's true
All I love to see in our pew
